Man Stabs Victim At Restaurant, Immediately Arrested By Azusa Police

On April 13th, 2015 at 4:05 p.m., the Azusa Police Department received a 911 call regarding two males "fist fighting" inside a restaurant in the 400 block of E. Foothill Boulevard, in Azusa.

Police officers and detectives immediately responded to the call and arrived within seconds. The officers saw the fight had moved outside, to the patio area, where one of the males produced a knife, and stabbed the victim once in the upper torso. Officers and detectives confronted the male suspect, and ordered him to surrender, which he did. The officers detained the male, Daniel Marti (19-year-old resident of Azusa). A knife was recovered at the scene by the officers.

The 26-year-old stabbing victim was stabilized at the scene by Los Angeles County Fire Department Paramedics. He was transported by a rescue helicopter to a local trauma center. His current medical condition is not known.

The exact motive for the fight and subsequent stabbing are still under investigation.

Marti suffered minor injuries from the initial fight, and was treated at a local hospital. He was later arrested and booked at the Azusa Police Department Jail on charges of attempted murder. His bond was set at $1,000,000 and he is scheduled to be arraigned at West Covina Court on April 15th, 2015.
