On February 5, 2014 about 5:51 PM, Azusa Police Department Officers responded to the area of Ninth St / Orange Ave, regarding a fight in progress in which three males were assaulting a lone male who was laying on the ground. Arriving officers searched the area and subsequently located the three suspects, some of whom had the victim's personal property in their possession.
When the investigating Officers interviewed the victim, they found that the victim had been walking in the area when he was confronted by the three subjects. After a brief conversation, the suspects began to assault the victim by punching him. When the victim fell to the ground, he was kicked numerous times in the head. The suspects stole his personal property, including his wallet, cell phone, and backpack, and then fled the scene.
The victim sustained moderate injuries to his head and was expected to seek medical treatment at a later time. The victim positively identified all three suspects. They were all arrested for 211 PC - Robbery.
The suspects were all identified as Azusa residents:
1) John Medrano, 19 years old
2) Raymundo Gallegos, 20 years old
3) Male juvenile.
Medrano and Gallegos are each being held on $50,000 bail. The male juvenile was transported to a juvenile custody facility.
