The National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Watch for Azusa, effetive later this evening, and continuing through Saturday night. A strong Pacific storm will be moving slowly inland through California on Friday. The storm will bring heavy rains and strong gusty winds.

The storm will arrive on Friday, and continue through Saturday night. Heavy rainfall is expected at times on Friday, with steady rain turning into showers Friday night. Total rainfall through Sunday will range from 3 to 5 inches in the mountains. Local amounts could exceed 7 inches on southern facing mountain slopes. This rainfall could cause flash flooding and mud and debris flows near recent burn areas.

Strong winds with gusts around 35 mph will precede the storm in the coastal and valley areas.

Evacuations

Evacuations are mandatory for Ridge View Drive of Azusa. Those evacuating in need of shelter may go to the Crowther Center at 241 W. Dawson Avenue in Glendora. Extra law enforcement personnel will be patrolling the evacuated area to prevent criminal activity in the evacuated area.

Sandbags Are Available

Self-serve sand bags can be obtained at Los Angeles County Fire Department Station 32 located at 605 N. Angeleno Avenue or at Station 97 at 18453 E. Sierra Madre Avenue, both of which are in Azusa.
